What is this conference about?

The Conference Defined

The Utility Working Conference and Technology Expo (UWC) is an annual meeting of the minds that consistently generates strong, practical recommendations designed to address the industry’s most pressing needs. The focus of UWC is to analyze cost drivers common to all nuclear power plants and recommend programs and processes to improve their efficiency and effectiveness and to provide innovative solutions that enable a significant reduction in operating expenses.

Why it Works

The UWC is truly a unique experience. Presented by the American Nuclear Society and attended by utility leaders, regulators, industry support organizations such as INPO, EPRI, and NEI, vendors, service organizations and other professionals, the Conference leverages a broad array of perspectives and insights to develop sound solutions for the nuclear industry.

How it Works

The UWC employs a 5-Step Model to attain its end product: valuable industry recommendations.

Step 1: Raw data is gathered from plants

Step 2: Facts surrounding the challenge in question are extracted

Step 3: Information is compiled

Step 4: Information is analyzed and discussed and best practices evaluated

Step 5: Usable recommendations are generated

 Key Benefits

In addition to developing solutions for the topic at hand, the sharing of knowledge and best-practices takes place in break-out sessions and at the Best Practices Poster Exhibit. Valuable conversations and collaborative opportunities emerge at the Vendor Expo, over meals, and during breaks.

 11 Tracks

During 3 days of thought-provoking tracks offering the latest information, organizers will facilitate break-out sessions to tackle the challenges of sustainability. Be a part of the conversation.

I am bringing my family with me, are there activities for them to do?
Yes! This barrier island was Florida’s first luxury tourist destination and it is still winning awards (and hearts) today. Named among the Top 10 North American islands by Conde Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards for seven consecutive years and recognized as a Top 25 Island in the World, Amelia Island is treasured for its long stretches of quiet beaches, natural beauty, unique history, and charming seaport character. Choose from golf, spa, dining, shopping, and a range of outdoor activities – or simply let relaxation take its course and enjoy time with loved ones. Come make memories! Check out resort activities here.
What is the dress code?
Business suits are not required in this informal setting. Just be ready to roll up your sleeves. Hence the words “Working Conference” in the meeting name. But note, while we are in Amelia Island, meeting rooms tend to run a bit on the cool side.
